The company was started in January 1969 in Canoga Park, California, and incorporated in 1971. In 1976, the company moved to a 10,000 sq. ft. facility in Chatsworth, California. In 1991, the company moved to the current 21,000 sq. ft. facility, which is owned by the principals.

Astrofoam Molding Company molds products in Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). These products include custom packaging, foam coolers for shipping medical supplies/perishables, wine shippers, corner blocks/edge protectors and displays.

The company has 14 molding machines and 2 pre-expanders which are supplied with steam by 2 boilers. The plant is fully permitted by the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District.

The company can mold parts up to 6 feet long, such as surfboards, and 4 feet x 4 feet x 3 feet. Products can be molded in densities from 1 pound to 4 pound per square feet. Products can be white or colored.

Astrofoam Molding Company is a closely held corporation with all shares owned by the Bevan family. The company had no short or long term debts. Current sales are approximately $2,000,000 per year.
